When is the Best Time to Post Your Tweets?

tweets per hour chart

Tweets per Hour

Everybody wants their tweets to reach and be read by as many other twitter users as possible. So a big factor in achieving those is to tweet at the most optimal time when most users are online and least users tweeting in competition with your tweets. In a recent report from hubspot about the state of the twittersphere, it’s stated that during a typical business week, that  tweet spikes happen around 8.00 – 10.00 am, 1.00 – 4.00 pm and 7.00 – 10.00 pm so it looks like there are 3 times in the day of 2-3 hour blocks when it becomes the busiest time to tweet but the report does not provide the timezone.

Next we’ll look at tweet volume per day. In descending order (High to Low) I will list most to least tweet volume per day.

  1. Thursday
  2. Friday
  3. Tuesday
  4. Wednesday
  5. Sunday
  6. Monday
  7. Saturday

These statistics are great for general tweeting but what if you are not in the US or tweeting that is directed at country specific users you will have to do your own testing and analysis yourself. Personal testing and research is where you will find gold. If you want to know how to and what to use for your twitter research then you can look at the upcoming How to Do Twitter Research and What Tools You Can Use post.

What If you want to send tweets to other twitterers who have a different timezone then you? Then you can check out the Use Scosiloomph AKA Tweet Later To Schedule Your Tweets For Later post.

Gary McCaffrey over on his blog posted a picture showing his research results for how many people came to his site through his tweets and at what time. His 5 best hours are between 9.00 – 13.00 pm.

This information will at least give you something to think about and hopefully benefit from.

Happy Tweeting!!!
