6 Benefits Of Blogging

benefits of bloggingFinally I can type out these benefits of blogging after having my internet back up after it being down for 95% of the last 3 days.

Everybody blogs for their own reasons and all of us have different motivations that push us and drive us to the expectations and hopes we have of what we want our blogs to be. Though all reasons have one thing in common, blogging makes us “FEEL” a certain way but I think it would get a bit boring to tell you how blogging could make you feel or would it? (if you want me to blog on how blogging makes me and other bloggers feel leave a comment below, I can even imagine interviewing bloggers on this topic too) Anyway that’s a bit off point. I’ve listed 6 benefits I think will apply to most bloggers out there except number 6 which I thought was interesting but I’ll leave the comments open for you and other bloggers to share how you feel blogging benefits you.

1.Building An Investment And Asset

Blogging is an inexpensive and low risk investment, but where you don’t put in a lot of money, you do have to put in a lot of time and effort. Although im not just talking about a financial asset but there are lots of bloggers out there that blog for a number of reasons and if you want to know what some of those other reasons might be…… just look below.

Blogging builds on itself and extends your reach, your awareness, your brand, your credibility and your trust every time you press that publish button.

A huge benefit of blogging is that your blog posts are always online, always getting readers and always gaining credibility in the eyes of those readers. You can create that post once and it can spread, be shared and bring in search engine traffic without you.

The best investment you can make in any business is getting people to trust you, admire you, believe in you, to talk about you positively to others, it’s about communicating emotion and blogging does that. That’s not easy for a lot of people and it takes time but every top blogger knows this and they communicate very well and they do gain peoples trust all by blogging.

Now it’s easy to say get people to this and that, but HOW. How do I get people to trust me, admire me, believe me and talk about me? Simply put by Zig Ziglar

You can get everything in life you want, if you will just help others to get what they want.

Give people a feeling, a connection or a result they want and you’ll succeed.

2.Expand Your Network And Contacts

A blog is unique in the fact that you can get high volumes of highly targeted contacts, customers and people who share your passions to come to your blog and not just once but repeatedly, oh and for free. As well as business connections, you build relationships with your possible customers and gain insight into what they think and how they might act to your offerings. Finding lifelong friends with similar interests is a key reason I blog. I want to help others and contribute, I also want them to reciprocate so we can help each other.

I do love to meet new people online, whether they’re bloggers, marketers, designers, programmers, CEO’s, whoever I might meet I love to meet new people and over time some of those people will turn into meaningful relationships. The value here is that having more connections and relationships expands your ability to do and get where you want to go. People are only willing to help you if your honest and return the favor ;-)

3.Become An Expert In Your Industry

Most of the experts in the make money online arena didn’t start out as experts, they blogged and became the experts they are today. Look at John Chow or Darren Rowse, they didn’t start out as experts but blogging catapulted them to the positions they hold today.

Th internet is so young and their is always space for another expert blogger no matter what niche your in. Well then how long does it take to become an expert? Well a search on wikipedia for the word “Expert” reveals some really interesting information along with saying “In many domains of expertise estimates of 10 years experience or 10,000 hours deliberate practice are common”. That also works out to 4 hours a day, 5 working days a week for 10 years or 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 5 years. Though not a stone cold fact but a theory, it’s still interesting and a mark you can aim for.

4.Express Yourself And Your Passions

This is another benefit all bloggers share, we all want to express what we’re feeling, thinking and passionate about. We get a sense of fulfillment and accomplished when we blog. Here on this blog, I personally express what im thinking here, about what’s in my head. Bloggers can say whatever they want and when they want, they’re not limited. People listen and isn’t that we all want, to be listened to, to be acknowledged, to be valued, to be appreciated and you get that from blogging.

5.Flexibility

Blogging is very flexible, you can choose when to blog, you can even choose to write a batch of posts for one week and automate them to publish automatically in the future so you don’t have to blog at all for a week. Your not tied down to a schedule of when or what to blog about. Your free and flexible to do what you want and we all want that kind of flexibility. John Chow is a hugely successful blogger and he has a flexible life and  blogging routine but that flexibility comes from his blog. He’s flexible to blog when he wants, for as long as he wants (which he says is 2 hours a day) Flexibility is a big plus.

6.Land Your Dream Job

This one just popped into my head and is a benefit for a lucky few. Blogging could land you a job and even your dream job like Jamie Varon. Jamie who is the blogger at twittershouldhireme.com blogged all the way to her new job at Twitter. Now this is an extreme case but she had a set goal and target and she achieved it by using a blog. Besides your dream job and going back to the possibility of landing any old job, many bloggers do get asked to write on other sites, do reviews, even columns in newspapers just from blogging. When you blog, your not just limited to writing for yourself and your blog.

As I wrote earlier we all blog to feel a certain way and to improve our lives in one way or another. There are so many benefits to blogging and that’s why I started this blog because of what it enabled me to do and feel.

So why do you blog, what do you feel are some benefits to blogging?

  1. I add one benefit. Blogging make us be better in writing our idea. It is really an useful skill, in my opinion.

  2. Yes, I agree that I've increased my network substantially since I've had my blog. It's great as I'm meeting people from all over the world.

I also agree with "online knowledge", that blogging improves ones writing.

    • I love that, to be able to network and meet so many people in a relatively short amount of time. That's definitely a very important benefit, the better we get at writing, the better everything you do will become.

  3. Good points. I can second the opinion from the first comment: One of the reasons I started my blog was to improve my writing skills.

    • Improving my writing is a valid reason. It wasn't actually a reason I started my blog but over time you should be improving and improvements to your writing style will happen anyway. Id be interested to see how our writing styles change over time .

      • I think I've already made a bit of progress, even though I'm only about a dozen articles in. It's already easier for me to structure my thoughts in a way that helps draft and write a comprehensive blog post.
Another benefit I've noticed is that I think differently about subjects that I want to write about. I also do more research on those subjects. I guess that's part of point number 3: becoming an expert.

        • Your blog looks great already with a lot of great posts, im going to start reading a few of them now soon. Ya I find is easier for me now as well since my first post.

          Thanks for your input Shane.

  4. Hi Blaine, great post. I like a lot how you discuss the topic.

In my personal case there were many reasons to become a blogger. Some of these are:
To gain a good foundation of English, above all regarding my writing skills; to share with others what I know and I think it´s good to improve our lifestyle; to learn what others share with me; and also being a blogger also helps me to be more productive and creative in what I do.

Let´s say that I grow as a person as a result of the experience of being a blogger.

    • Thanks David.

I love your last sentence "Let´s say that I grow as a person as a result of the experience of being a blogger. " I actually find that very profound, that through the experience of blogging, we change, we improve and overall find out who we are and what we know.

      Thanks for sharing that David

  5. Blogging is time consuming but the fulfillment you'll get in return is priceless.

    • Oh yes, very time consuming. There are so many things bloggers have to juggle to have a great blog and it can also be very fulfilling if you like doing everything that comes with blogging but for some unfortunate bloggers they don't.

  6. You have great points here Blaine. Between, another benefit for blogging would be improving writing skill and also communication skill with other bloggers. In fact, I do have only local friends before I started blogging, then I have bunch of blogger friends in other countries right now. I love blogging and won't be stopped doing this for this moment. :)

    • Thanks Lee.

I definitely notice now that I have a lot more friends around the world which I love and it's really interesting. It's best to stick at it for as long as you can because it's a long term goal to become a successful bogger and get thousands of people to your blog… if that's your thing and you have a great blog so I hope you'll stay around as long as you can :-)

  7. Very constructive post, Blaine. I found a lot of benefit in blogging such as improving my writing skills, communicate and share my opinion with other bloggers, building a community. I never intended to blog just to make money online first, I just wanted to help people to generate an extra income. The only reason why I accept banner ads, and promote affiliate products is that since I loosed my day work I decided to make a living off my blog and become a full-time blogger. At the moment my monthly income is less than $150 from my main blog, and a very few dollard from my other blogs. I was thinking about creating a lot of blog to increase my revenue but I couldn't handle.

I love blogging like most of other bloggers, and I don't intend to stop my carreer as a blogger unless I am obligated to stop blogging because I don't generate enought profit to keep my blogs alive.

    • Great Comment Ben.

I like what you said about building a community around you, that's an important benefit. There are so many benefits though which is just so amazing. That's good what your doing with your blogs. I know what you mean, handling one blog is enough work but multiple blogs is something few bloggers do right but glad you're doing it.

Im sure you'll be doing a great job with your blogs and hopefully they'll grow even more over time.

  8. Its all true. A lot of people dont realize that a blog is a business asset and they just delete their blogs when they realize its not making money for them..

One reason why I started blogging is to make new friends, network with more people and eventually have them as business partners soon..

    • That's right a lot of people don't. If you know thebadblogger.com, that was a pretty good blog but now all the posts have been deleted and that's a deleted asset unfortunately.

Relationships with people is an amazing benefit we have when we blog and they help us in every way.

  9. Precisely! That's why I have pursue my blogging. :-)

  10. Your writing skills and presentation skills improve for sure! Also, people start knowing you and you increase your contacts. This is of help in your future life!

    • So so true, I even notice the difference with myself in the last 3 months. There is a huge ability to build new relationships and make new contacts which I love. Very very helpful in what ever you do in the future.

  11. Blogging, commenting on other blogs surely helps in building good network and research helps in increase your knowledge and lets u know wats new going on.
    Good tips

  12. i do blogging as its my passion and the main thing is to build a network around internet
